Goodie Box and Bowl Campaign
1 in 5 Kiwis go hungry each week and with our Goodie Bowls and Boxes you can help change that.
To help tackle food waste, food poverty, and social isolation in New Zealand, we partnered up with Everybody Eats and DDB, to create the Goodie initiative. The Goodie Box and Bowl act as a doggy bag that, in a moment of too much food, asks your diners to think about those with too little.
Why use a Goodie Bowl or Box?
New research reveals that 87% of Kiwis would like to be offered a doggy bag, but only 5% of us, when actually faced with a half-eaten meal, have ever been brave enough to ask.
With the Goodie Box and Goodie Bowl we aim to change that. By encouraging both restaurants and diners to offer and ask for their leftovers, we reduce restaurant food waste and help those in need.
Are the Goodie Box and Bowls compostable?
Yes, both products are certified commercially compostable and guaranteed to break down within 12 weeks when placed in a commercial compost.
Can the Goodie Bowl/Box hold liquids?
Yes, the Goodie Bowl has been designed to hold liquids such as soups. The Goodie Box is better suited for lightly sauced foods (but not liquids).
How can I place an order?
To get on board you just need to register your business here and Nick from Everybody Eats will be in touch. Once your account is set up you'll be ready to order Goodie Boxes on our site.
What should I do with my Goodie products when I’m finished with them?
Both the Goodie Box and the Goodie Bowl can fully break down in 12 weeks in commercial compost facilities. So, ideally, they go in a commercial compost! If no commercial compost facilities are available, they should be popped in your general waste bin.
Who is Everybody Eats?
Everybody Eats is a community-led charity dedicated to tackling food poverty, reducing food waste, and fostering social connection in Aotearoa.
It's about promoting healthier and happier communities and bringing people together from all walks of life, over a good hearty meal served by volunteers in one of their three restaurants.
How does the Everybody Eats initiative work?
Everybody Eats partners with local food suppliers, supermarkets, and growers to source surplus ingredients that are perfectly good to eat but would otherwise go to waste.
Menus change daily based on the ingredients received, allowing their talented chefs to create diverse and mouth-watering dishes.
Diners pay what they can. This means you can contribute as much or as little as you are able. If you're in a position to pay more, your contribution helps cover the cost of meals for those who may not be able to pay.

Both the Goodie Boxes and Bowls are made from paper and lined with PLA. All inks used to create their beautiful design are water-based and non-toxic.
You can read more about each of these materials below.
Paper
Paper is fantastic, but not all trees are grown equal! decent only uses responsibly sourced or recycled paper, this paper can then be recycled again and again or composted too.
PLA
We use low-carbon PLA biopolymers made from renewable resources. PLA can break down fully, back into organic molecules.
Inks Dyes & Glues
All of our inks are soy based and the adhesives we use are made from plants too. We also whiten paper products without bleach, using non-toxic oxidation.
Commercially Compostable
This product has achieved this international standard which is used to determine if mixed material products which include bioplastic linings or films will compost satisfactorily in commercial facilities. (ASTM D6400 & D6868)
